About Gig Tax Kit

Hi, I’m Mudit. I build software products, and I made Gig Tax Kit because tax tools for gig workers and freelancers are either built for salaried employees or hidden behind a sign-up form.

I wanted fast, free answers to real questions: how much to save from each payout, what to pay the IRS in January, and what a rule change like the 2026 mileage increase actually means.

Every figure on this site comes from IRS publications, and the method behind each calculator is published so you can check it.

How the site works

  • IRS rules first. Rates, brackets and deadlines come from IRS publications, revenue procedures and announcements, listed on the methodology page.
  • Updated every year. All tax figures are kept in one place and reviewed each tax year, and whenever the IRS makes a mid-year change.
  • Private. Calculators run in your browser. Nothing you enter is stored.
  • Free. The site is paid for by ads and, in some places, clearly labeled links to products I think are useful. That never changes the results a calculator shows.

Not tax advice

I’m not a tax professional. The calculators give estimates to help you plan, and they don’t know your whole situation. For decisions with real money at stake, talk to a CPA or Enrolled Agent.
